Charlie Sheen (before he deleted his Twitter account), DJ Pauly D… now WWE.com has revealed Khloe Kardashian Odom to be WWE’s latest Twitter Social Media Ambassador on the RAW after SummerSlam.
Let’s call it for what it is—WWE enters a partnership, paid or otherwise, with a celebrity who possesses several million followers, to Tweet about and be excited for WWE. In other words, a RAW guest host who isn’t physically at RAW.
Is that a bad thing? Absolutely not. Nor should it be a point to complain about for the Internet Wrestling Community.
DJ Pauly D produced a total of 27 Tweets on Monday, August 13 while he was WWE Social Media Ambassador (including retweets). He retweeted something WWE related on Tuesday and is also scheduled to be the DJ at a WWE VIP Party this weekend as part of SummerSlam festivities. DJ Pauly D has just over 3.9 million followers on Twitter.
In terms of Tweet volume, I would expect the same of Khloe Kardashian Odom, who exceeds 7.4 million followers on the social media platform. While Pauly D and Kaardashian Odom may not necessarily watch WWE on a regular basis, WWE will benefit greatly from the WWE-focused Tweets on Monday night, re-introducing their brand to audiences that may have long forgotten about it or only know WWE from a brief encounter.
It’s ridiculous to think that anyone could see this as a bad move for WWE—it’s not. Anybody caring about WWE, whether they are paid to or not, whether they are popular or not, is a good thing if you are a WWE fan. No need to complain just for the sake of complaining.
